Duterte happy with the result of Boracay recovery — Panelo
President Rodrigo Duterte satisfied and happy with the outcome of the six-month rehabilitation of the
Boracay Island, Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said on Friday.
“Definitely, the President, in fact, has commended the secretaries of the task force for the development of this place,”
Panelo said at a press conference after the re-opening of the tourist destination.
Panelo said what happened to Boracay Island must be a lesson to all Filipinos.
“It’s a lesson of political will and cooperation among the people of this country,” Panelo said. “Boracay would become
an attraction not only to this country but to the world.”
Meanwhile, Boracay Island revived to a neighborhood and outside voyagers after it shut by the administration for a six-month ecological recovery.
Hence, Duterte had considered the island a “cesspool” and requested government offices to unravel the ecological issues tormenting the island.
