‘Do not drag me to ICC…Magwala ako roon’- Duterte
President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to go berserk at the International Criminal Court if he is “dragged”
to the Hague tribunal to face charges of committing crimes against humanity.
“Do not drag me in ICC, you idiots. Who is the prosecutor there? Who appointed her? Even the chairman of the ICC,
‘yung fiscal nila, let me ask you, what are you doing there? Are [you] elected there democratically? Pagdating ko diyan
ay sampalin ko kayong mga judges at magwala ako doon,” Duterte said during his speech at the Philippine Business Conference and Expo in Manila on Thursday.
Duterte is under preliminary examination at the ICC after lawyer Jude Sabio filed a complaint in May 2017 charging him
with crimes against humanity for the thousands of deaths in his anti-drugs campaign.
Qualified Fair Treatment
Sabio a counsel of self-confessed hit man and former Davao Death Squad member Edgar Matobato, who testified in a Senate probe that he used to kill people on Duterte’s orders when the latter mayor of Davao City.
The President, a legal advisor, kept up that the ICC does not have locale on him and focused on that he is qualified for fair treatment.
“What the heck you attempting to… you can’t gain a locale, our law necessitates that no individual will deny of life, freedom, or property without fair treatment of law, nor will any individual prevented the equivalent insurance from securing the laws,” Duterte said.
The Palace chose to singularly haul out of the Rome Statute—the report that made the ICC—in March 2018.
The legitimateness of such a move, in any case, has since addressed by the President’s pundits and resistance administrators. The Supreme Court presently can’t seem to settle on the withdrawal.
In August this year, a crisp grievance against Duterte recorded at the global council, this time by the groups of those killed in his medication war.
