Duterte stayed in Davao instead running for President
President Rodrigo Duterte stayed appears to have realized — belatedly– that the responsibilities
that come with staying in Malacañang may be too big for a long-time mayor like him.
In a speech in Malacañang Thursday (October 4), Duterte said he would not have run for president given the chance.
“You know sa totoo lang and please do not be offended, kung pabalikin ako gusto ko na lang
talaga mag — maybe for the last time — kasi I did not want to leave Davao,” he told members of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association.
“The position does not interest me at all,” Duterte added.
The President said he was at that point tired in the wake of putting in near 40 years in the taxpayer driven organization.
“Ayaw ko na talaga kasi pagod na rin ako. What’s more, I realize that time was up for me. Siguro pagdating mo ng 70 years of age wala na ‘yan,” he said.
Duterte has more than once said he prepares to venture down yet just needs a valid justification to do as such.
