New Senate building at Taguig
President Rodrigo Duterte has no issue with the Senate’s intend to develop another building at Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City in spite of reactions this would cost the administration an astounding P10 billion.
“I have no complaint on that. Anywhere the Senate needs to construct it, we will state so be it,” Duterte said in a press briefing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 2 not long after his entry from a three-day official visit to South Korea.
“They are possessing a place na hindi kanila yan, I believe it’s claimed by GSIS, I trust,” Duterte said.
The President said the Senate would require a “more spacious environment” for “mobility.”
The board entrusted with directing the development of the Senate building had before named AECOM as the champ of the winner of the Global Conceptual Design Competition for the New Home of the Philippine Senate.
