Strongman in TIME Magazine
President Duterte after being called a strongman in TIME magazine, was featured
anew among part of “The World’s Most Powerful People” in 2018.
President Duterte ranked 69th of the 75 leaders and most influential men and women
in the world from various fields. Forbes said through there website that the list selects
1 person out of every 100 million “whose actions means the most.”
The media giant based in the United States report on Duterte mentioned his war on
dr8gs and crime campaign that promised to eradicate street crimes and dr8g trade.
He also cited the President’s “raw and vulgar” rhetoric.
This is the 2nd time that our very own President made in the list. He placed 70th in 2016.
President Duterte’s ally, Chinese President Xi Jinping, landing on the top spot in this year’s ranking.
Xi dislodged Russian President Vladimir Putin from the top spot for four consecutive years.
Meanwhile completing the top 10 of the most powerful people are Russian President
Vladimir Outin, US President Donald Trump, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Amazon
CEO Jeff Bezos, Pope Francis, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Saudi Arabia Crown Prince
Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Google co-founder
“This year’s list comes at a time of rapid and profound change, ans represents our best
guess about who will matter in the year to come,” Forbes said
