Is the political alliance between the Duterte clan and House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez is now on reg light?
In two succeeding Facebook posts Thursday afternoon, Davao City Mayor sent tirades to House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez for alleging she is part of the political opposition, saying he was actually the one working against her father President Duterte.
This came a day after the lady mayor led in forming a new regional party in Mindanao called Hugpong ng Pagbabago (Alliance for Change) allying with five provincial governors in Davao Region— Antonio Rafael del Rosario of Davao del Norte, Claude Bautista of Davao Occidental, Nelson Dayanghirang of Davao Oriental and Jayvee Tyron Uy of Compostela Valley.
In her post, Mayor Sara commented with a photo of Speaker Alvarez.
“Kung asshole ka sa Congress, don’t bring that to Davao, leave it in Manila. Somebody should tell the President what you are doing. How dare you call me part of the opposition. Kapal ng mukha mo. You messed with the wrong girl.”
One hour later, a second post reads:
Ano sabi mo in a crowd, “President iba siya, Speaker ako, I can always impeach him!” And you call me opposition? Somebody should really tell the President about the truth. Antay ka bukas, I have another story…
Upon hearing of the newly formed party of Mayor Sara, Alvarez commented that Mayor’s decision to form another political party is a non-issue. He said he respects her decision to form a regional party separate from the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP).
But he said that the move of the mayor only shows how prominent political dynasties are in the Philippines.
“Kahit na mag-ama yan, kahit na minsan hindi tayo nagkakasundo, magkapatid naglalaban sa pulitika, paano natin pigilin yun? Sila mismo naglaban-laban ‘di ba? Ito namang sa kaso noong pagtatag ng partido ni Mayor Sara ay talaga namang pupuwede yun, di ba? So, igalang na lang natin talaga,” he said.
Duterte reiterated that her newly formed party is a regional one and she don’t have any connections with the PDP-Laban which was the vehicle catapulted her father to presidency last 2016.
“No links with [PDP-Laban]. Only Governor Uy is [a PDP-Laban member]. I ran under Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod, the local party in Davao [City],” the mayor said.
Different reactions from the netizens flooded the post of Mayor Sara:
