BELO MEDICAL GROUP FACING CHARGES FOR SELLING UNREGISTERED PRODUCTS AND BANNED PARABENS

Belo Medical Clinic facing cases for administrative and criminal charges for continuing selling unregistered cosmetic products. Food and Drug Administration shut down a branch in Alabang, Muntinlupa City for selling cosmetic and other pharmaceutical products unregistered to the FDA. The BMG employees in the said branch is also facing charges for refusing the operatives to conduct inspection.

FDA personnel padlocked the pharmacy situated on West Gate in Alabang against the violation Section 11(c) of Republic Act No. 3720 or the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, mislabeled cosmetics and drugs as the products were not registered and did not undergo certification process at the agency.

 FDA Director General Nela Charade Puno added that additional case is filed for using banned isobutyl paraben and four other types of paraben in line with the Asean Cosmetics Directive.
