Detained Senator Leila De Lima has asked the Philippine National Police (PNP) to allow her relatives and friends to visit her this coming Christmas and New Year.
De Lima was detained due to illegal drug-related charges, at the PNP Camp Crame.
Because Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Monday which the institution follows it’s a ‘no visitor’ day, De Lima asked for a favor from Chief Insp. Erickson Polinag to at least in the spirit of the holiday season, allow her family and friends to visit her.
In February 23, 2017, the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 204 ordered the arrest of the feisty senator with 3 criminal charges against her.
De Lima allegedly asked money from Bilibid inmates to fund her senatorial campaign in 2016 which violates Section 5 of the Dangerous Drugs Act penalizes the “sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of illegal drugs.”
