Vice President Leni Robredo frequently spoke out against President Duterte’s killing of drug addicts and other crimes under the Duterte administration.
“The times call on each one of us to strengthen our conviction to fight for human rights, in the face of the challenges the Filipino faced in the past year.”
Robredo includes the stifling of free speech, especially on social media, extrajudicial killings which affect millions of people in the Philippines.
May this celebration of Human Rights Day provides an opportunity to rekindle our determination to be a society that observes and brings life to the dignity, freedom, and rights of each Filipino,” she added.
“This year’s Human Rights Day is not only a commemoration of our contribution to this struggle,” Robredo said.
In connection with this Human Rights Day celebrate every Dec. 10 all over the world in commemoration of the adoption by the UN General Assembly on that day in 1948 of the Universal Declaration.
