Manushi Chillar of India won as Miss World 2017 in a grand coronation night in Sanya, China. Completing the top 5 finalist were ladies from Mexico (2nd place), England (3rd place), France, India, and Kenya.
While the Top 15 ladies were girls from Mongolia, Russia, Indonesia, El Salvador, Korea, Nigeria, South Africa, Japan, Mexico, France, Jamaica, India, Macau-China, England, and Kenya.
Laura Lehmann, Philippines contender for Miss World 2017 bowed out early from the competition but was declared part of the Top 40. She was also judged as the winner of the Beauty with a Purpose challenge, alongside with Vietnam, India, Indonesia, and South Africa. While in the head to head challenge, she’s also one of the winners.
But the Twitter world was enraged Saturday night when Laura Lehmann did not advanced in the Top 15. Here are some of the comments from the netizens:
Tinanggal ang scoreboard. Apparently, Miss Philippines is in rank 7 based on the accumulated scores for the fast track events. (c) #MessWorld2017 #MissWorld2017

#MissWorld2017 They Eliminate Philippines because once she made it in Q and A it's hard for the other country (candidate) to win .

Miss Philippines, Laura Lehmann won in the head to head Challenge. She also won Beauty with the purpose. Yet Philippines is not included in the Top 15. Cooking show at its finest? #MissWorld2017

The Philippines and the Filipino pageant fanatics will hate Miss World even more, after what they did to Catriona last year, and now to Laura Lehmann.
Asa ka pa Julia Morley na magaganap dito sa Pilipinas ang Miss World.#MissWorld2017

You made a very big mistake Madam Julia Morley by rejecting Miss World Philippines Laura Lehmann. You've done this twice in a row. You do not do this to the biggest pageant fans in the world. They never forget. Never!#MissWorld2017

Perrie’s Twin said, “They Eliminate Philippines because once she made it in Q and A it’s hard for the other country (candidate) to win.”
Another comment says, Miss World that we never had displaying Catriona Gray and Laura Lehmann’s photos.
One millenial criticized the judging saying that Miss Philippines, Laura Lehmann won in the head to head Challenge. “She also won Beauty with the purpose. Yet Philippines is not included in the Top 15. Cooking show at its finest?” said in the Twitter post.
Should Laura had won Miss World tonight, she’s the second Filipina to get to wear the crown next to Megan Young who won in 2013.
But the fate was, India took home the crown.
Manushi Chillar of India is a 20 years old medical student. She’s a complete package of beauty with brains. After bagging the Miss India World 2017 title earlier this year, she utilized her fame for a noble cause, and started an initiative to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene. She shared,”The cause is close to my heart, and in my own way, I have managed to make a difference to the lives of about 5,000 women. If an organization like Miss World backs it, it could reach a different level altogether”.
Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico passed on the crown to Manushi.
