PDP-Laban fields Mocha Uson as senatorial bet come Election 2019

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez announced its party’s senatorial slate come 2019 senatorial election, during the PDP-Laban oath-taking rally in Cebu City, Friday afternoon, November 17, 2017.

The list includes Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Davao City Representative Karlo Nograles, Negros Occidental Albee Benitez, Bataan Representative Geraldine Roman and former LP stalwart Francis Tolentino.

Uson was thankful and flattered to be considered as a senatorial candidate but she herself don’t have a concrete plan yet.

On her Facebook account, she wrote that, “It’s true the Speaker has been inviting for sometime now to run for senator, but my answer is that I have no plans of running for a Senate seat because I am not a politician.”

She added, “But if ever I would run, it would be because President Duterte himself asked me to run.”

Uson said on her Facebook statement that she just attended that PDP-Laban Oath-taking rally of its new members upon the invitation of Presidential Assistant for Visayas, Michael Dino, without any political intentions going on her part. She was surprised when suddenly Speaker Alvarez announced that she will run as a senator.

When the news broke over social media, different reactions flowed from the netizens:

But there are also who believe that Mocha Uson can be a good as a senator and will support her all the way.

Uson was a former member of a sexy dance group, Mocha girls who turned to a pro-Duterte blogger with over 5.5 Million followers. She became controversial when President Duterte appointed her to an MTRCB post and later became an assistant secretary of the Presidential Communications Office.
