Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte did not hesitated to post her comment regarding the fate of Mariel De Leon on the recent Miss International pageant held in Japan.
We all knew that Mariel didn’t make it to the semi finals, even though she was tagged as one of the front-runners of the said competition. Netizens lambasted her remarks against the government, connecting it to her loss, calling it bad karma.
While Mayor Inday posted this on her facebook account:
“Meron ako personal experience sa kanya, but I’m too tired to make kwento. I believe pageant judges see through the physical beauty and examine the heart. Para bang Ms. Venezuela sa Ms. Universe 2016. Parang ganyan. This is a schadenfreude moment for me. Sa binisaya pa, ang gabà di gyud magsabà.” “I have a personal experience with her, but I’m to tired to make a story. I believe pageant judges see through the physical beauty and examine the heart. Like Miss Venezuela in Miss Universe 2016. Just like that. This is a schadenfreude moment for me. In Cebuano, karma is very silent,” said the Mayor.
If you try to look in the dictionary the word “schadenfreude”, it is the pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune. Included in the post of Sara was the face of de Leon. Allegedly, the losing candidate went through the knife and surgery.
In August, Mariel wrote several post on her social media accounts criticizing the war on drugs of President Duterte, calling the nation, “Bloody Philippines”. She even ended with a word war with PCO Assec. mocha Uson in social media.
