US President Donald Trump and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will finally meet for the first time in Vietnam in time for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit from November 9 to 11, 2017.
It is expected that the presidents will both discuss issues on trade, terrorism and territorial dispute on the West Philippine Sea.
There is also a possibility that a bilateral meeting will happen between the Philippines and United States during the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit to be held in the Philippines, where Trump will also be attending.
In his press briefing before taking his flight to Da Nang, Vietnam, President Duterte said that it is important to discuss things about trade and industry because this makes the country alive while terrorism and violent extremism is the main threat to the world’s security.
