It was the day after All Souls Day and All Saints Day, where the whole nation went to the cemeteries visiting their departed loved ones. His youngest son, Sebastian or Baste accompanied him in the resting place of his parents.
The president touched the marbled casing of Nanay Soleng, her late mother and lit some candles to honor their memories.
Presdient Duterte never missed a chance to visit his parents grave every All Saints’ Day, death anniversaries and even on their birthdays.
His father, Vicente, was the last governor of the once undivided Davao and had also served as the Cabinet Secretary for General Services of the late Pres. Ferdinand Marcos.
Duterte’s Mother, whom Davaoeñeos call Nanay Soleng was a teacher involved in the socio-civic projects of her husband. She led Davao’s Yellow Friday Movement, which was crucial to the success of EDSA Revolution.
Duterte is very close to his mother, Soledad. He was seen crying after winning the presidential election in 2016.
